Hot Cross Bun Trifle
With Easter just around the corner we share a much loved Sacred Bundle recipe for your Easter celebrations. Marketing and Social media Coordinator Hannah, shares her kid friendly (and loved) chocolate hot cross bun trifle recipe, enjoyed by her littles on our Hennie table & chairs.
Hot Cross Bun Trifle

INGREDIENTS

8 chocolate hot cross buns

500ml ready made chilled custard

150g Lindt dark chocolate

500ml pure cream

1/4 cup icing sugar

Chocolate eggs for decorating  

 

METHOD

Put custard and 100g Lindt chocolate in a saucepan.

Over low heat gently stir until chocolate has completely melted. Put aside to cool.

In a bowl combine cream and icing sugar. Mix with an electric hand mixer until soft peaks form.

Once custard is cooled, layer the bottom of a trifle dish with halved hot cross buns. Spread a layer of chocolate custard over the top. Add a layer of cream. Finely grate Lindt chocolate.

Repeat with another layer of each ( hot cross bun, chocolate custard, cream & grated chocolate).

Decorate with chopped hot cross buns and Easter eggs.
